The Royal Border Bridge, BR poster, 1948-1965
Poster produced for British Railways (BR) to promote rail travel between England and Scotland on the East Coast route, which passed through Berwick-on-Tweed, Northumberland. The poster shows a steam locomotive crossing the Royal Border Bridge over the River Tweed, which was opened by Queen Victoria (1819-1901) in 1850. Terence Cuneo was commissioned by British Railways to paint this as one of a series of paintings promoting the railways journeys to York, Newcastle and Berwick.
