Poster produced for Southern Railway (SR) to promote rail and boat travel to the coastal resort of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, which is here promoted as an ideal holiday destination. The poster shows a panoramic view of the seafront, promenade and gardens, surrounded by a black border with illustrations of people engaged in the various past times that can be enjoyed there, such as golf, tennis and sailing. Racing off Ryde, BR poster, 1950s

Poster produced for British Railways (Southern Region) to promote their services to the Isle of Wight. The poster shows two sail boats with a British Rail ship approaching from the distance. British Railways offered a regular service from Portsmouth and Lymington to the Isle of Wight. The blue sky with its white clouds seem to merge with the blue water with its white foam in the painting, executed in a predominately blue palette. Artwork by Claude Buckle, who originally trained as an architect but turned to fine art in 1928. He painted in both oil and watercolour and was a prolific poster artis for the Great Western Railway (GWR) and British Railways (BR). Much of his original poster artwork is held at the National Railway Museum

Poster produced for Southern Railway (SR) promoting the Channel Islands as a holiday destination via the embarking points of Southampton or Weymouth, which can be reached by the company's rail services. The poster shows a striking red and gold sunset over a broad expanse of sea, which reflects it. A steamship and a ship with sails are visible on the water, and Guernsey can be discerned in the distance. Artwork by Charles Pears, a marine painter in oil who was an Official Naval Artist during the World Wars. He worked as a poster artist for rail companies and other clients and was also a book illustrator. Dimensions: 1016 mm x 1270 mm
