EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the Henshaw Arms pub, a beloved establishment located in the heart of Walworth, London. The image presents a corner view of the pub, its red brick facade adorned with ornate white detailing and the distinctive "Henshaw Arms" sign, which hangs proudly above the entrance. The pub, a local gathering place and watering hole, was a staple in the community, with its doors open to all, regardless of background or social standing. The Henshaw Arms, a public house, was owned and operated by Hoare & Company Limited, a well-known name in the London pub scene. The pub, which held a rich history and a warm, inviting atmosphere, was a place where friends met, stories were shared, and laughter filled the air. Sadly, as of July 2018, the Henshaw Arms, like so many other historic pubs, was no more. Demolished, the building that once housed this cherished establishment now stands as a memory, leaving behind a void in the community it once served. The back of this print bears the address of the Henshaw Arms, Walworth, London SE17 1PB, as a reminder of the pub's former existence. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the Henshaw Arms and the role it played in the lives of those who frequented it. The image captures the essence of a bygone era, a time when community and connection were fostered over a pint or two in a friendly, welcoming pub.
