EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the year 1930, when the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) sought to entice travelers with their train services to Abbotsford in the Scottish Borders. The poster, skillfully designed by Walter E Spradbery, showcases the magnificent Abbotsford House, a testament to Sir Walter Scott's legacy. Abbotsford House stands proudly amidst a breathtaking landscape of rolling countryside and majestic mountains. Its grandeur is matched only by its historical significance as it was both built and inhabited by Sir Walter Scott himself until his passing. This iconic residence serves as a reminder of his profound impact on literature and Scottish culture. Walter E Spradbery's artistic talent shines through in this poster, capturing the essence of Abbotsford's allure. His attention to detail brings out every intricate feature of this architectural masterpiece while seamlessly blending it into its natural surroundings.
