This print captures the sheer elegance and power of one of William Deans' remarkable 4-2-2 locomotives, belonging to the prestigious Great Western Railway. Taken on 23 September 1898, this particular engine is none other than No 3050 Royal Sovereign, caught in a breathtaking moment as it hurtles out of Box Tunnel with the resolute determination of the 7:15am express from Falmouth to London Paddington. Adorned with its magnificent polished brass and copper fittings, this Dean Single locomotive stands tall with its impressive 7ft 8in driving wheels.
