Framed Print of The Cambrian Coast, GWR poster, 1938

Poster produced for Great Western Railway (GWR) to promote rail travel to the Cambrian Coast of Wales. GWR enthusiastically promoted the magnificent scenery and allure of Wales, and even published a book in 1936 of Rambles around the Cambrian Coast, written by Hugh Page and describing nearly 300 miles of walks over the hills and through the valleys of the west coast of Wales. Artwork by Charles Pears, a marine painter in oil who was an Official Naval Artist during the World Wars. He worked as a poster artist for rail companies and other clients and was also a book illustrator. National Railway Museum is the home of iconic locomotives. Our historic prints reflect the age and quality of the original artwork we hold to preserve their artistic character, including authentic colour reproduction, marks and creases. © Please read our licence terms.
