Taken by renowned photographer Eric Treacy in 1956, the image showcases the powerful Coronation class 4-6-2 locomotive number 46221 Queen Elizabeth as it pulls into Carlisle, Cumbria. The Royal Scot train holds a rich history, having operated since 1862. Each day at precisely 10 a. m. , it embarked on its remarkable journey from Euston station in London to Glasgow, covering an impressive distance of 400 miles.
